Oak hardwood flooring is indeed one of the most popular options available. Oak wood has been a best seller for years hence to its properties. It is versatile, durable, stable and fits most budgets. There are two species of oak hardwood: Red Oak and White Oak and there are some slight differences between the two.
Red Oak or White Oak?
Red Oak is more common with a rosier tone and a more patterned grain. It is also slightly softer than White Oak. If you are looking for a floor that has a bit more character in the grain, then mostly likely red oak will suite your taste.
White Oak is less busy in terms of pattern grain. The unfinished wood has more of a light brown or yellow tone. Many love White Oak for the clean and smooth look that complements perfectly a contemporary design. White oak is a slower growing tree and it is also slightly denser than Red Oak.
